FAQ

Everything you want to know about your new online shop

Your website, payments, collection and delivery, pricing and the rules to follow: straight answers to the questions we're asked most.

Your website

Do I need a new website?

No. Your site stays exactly as it is, with your current host. We add a Shop tab to your menu, and that's it. It works with WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Jimdo, Webflow or a custom-built site.

An agency built my site. Is it compatible?

Yes. We add a simple "Shop" link to your menu, or send the instructions to your web designer. The shop is hosted by us, so there's nothing else for your agency to do.

Will the shop look like part of my website?

Yes. It uses your logo, colours and photo style. It can live at an address in your name, such as shop.yoursite.co.uk.

What if I only have a Facebook page or a Google profile?

The shop has its own address, so you can share it anywhere: social pages, your Google Business Profile or your emails.

The shop

Who puts my products online?

We do. Send us your list, prices and photos: a photo of your chalkboard or price list is enough to start. After that, you can edit products yourself or just email us.

How many products can I sell?

The service is designed for independent businesses: from a handful of products to a few hundred. For a very large catalogue with thousands of items, a full e-commerce platform will suit you better, and we'll tell you so.

Can I change products and prices myself?

Yes. Change a price, add a product or pause one whenever you like. If you'd rather not, we'll do it for you by email.

How do I receive orders?

By email, for every paid order, with the products, the collection or delivery choice and the customer's details.

Payments and money

Which payment methods can my customers use?

Debit and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard and more), Apple Pay and Google Pay, plus Bancontact for customers in Belgium.

Why Stripe?

Stripe is one of the most widely used payment providers in the world, trusted by millions of businesses. It handles card security, the strong customer authentication required in the UK and Europe, and payouts to your bank.

Where does the money go, and when?

Into your Stripe account, in your name, then on to your bank account on Stripe's payout schedule, usually a few working days after payment. We never hold your money.

Do I need a Stripe account already?

No. We help you open one in about fifteen minutes. If you already have one, we can use it.

Collection and delivery

How does click and collect work?

Your customer orders and pays online, chooses collection and when they'll come in. You get the order by email, prepare it, and they pick it up without waiting.

Can I deliver only in my area?

Yes. You set your local delivery area and charge. Outside it, customers can choose collection, or shipping if you offer it.

Can I post parcels?

Yes. You set your shipping rates and the countries you deliver to, and send with the carrier of your choice.

Pricing and contract

How much does it cost?

Nothing to get started: no setup fee and no monthly fee. We take 5% of each sale. Stripe's payment fee comes on top, for example 1.5% + 20p for a standard UK card. If you sell nothing, you pay nothing.

Does the 5% include card fees?

No. The 5% is our commission. Stripe, which processes the payment, charges its own fee on each transaction, for example 1.5% + 20p for a standard UK card. Both are shown clearly; nothing is hidden.

Is there a contract?

No. Stop whenever you like with a single email. We remove the Shop tab, your site goes back to how it was, and we hand over your product list and order history.

Who owns the shop and the data?

You do. Your products, customers, orders and Stripe account are in your name. If you leave, we hand over your product list and order history.

Rules and obligations

Do my customers have a right to cancel?

Generally yes, 14 days for distance sales. Perishable goods and made-to-order items are exempt. We set out the right rules in your shop before payment.

Do I need to show allergens?

Yes. For food, allergen information must be available before purchase. Send it to us and we'll show it on each product.

Can I sell alcohol?

Yes, if you hold the licences your country requires. We build age confirmation and the required notices into your shop.

Who is the seller in my customers' eyes?

You are. Your shop sells your products in your name; we provide and run the tool.

Another question? Email us, we reply in English or French.

Ready to sell online from your own website?

Send us your website address and what you'd like to sell. You'll get a clear, no-obligation proposal, and your shop can be live within days.
