Shopify alternatives, compared honestly.
There are many good ways to sell online, and most of them are tools you build and run yourself. Add Your Shop is the done-for-you option: a shop on the website you already have, with no fixed cost and a capped commission. Here's how we compare, using each provider's own published prices.
Competitor prices checked on their official websites in October 2026. Prices change; every table links to its sources.

If you want to run a full online store, these platforms are excellent. If you want to keep your website and start selling, here's the difference.
With Add Your Shop, we build the shop, you approve it, and we keep it up to date. It opens from your own menu, payments go to your own Stripe account, and you pay 2.5% when you sell — never more than €49 a month.
One page for each alternative.
Each comparison says where the other option is the better choice, with sources and worked examples.
Shopify
The complete store platform: best for large catalogues, stock management and point of sale. You build and run it on a monthly plan.
Wix & Squarespace
Ideal if you're building a new site with them anyway. Selling needs a commerce plan on their platform.
WooCommerce
Free and very flexible on WordPress, if you're happy to look after hosting, plugins and updates.
Ecwid by Lightspeed
A store you embed in your own site and set up yourself. From €5 a month for up to 10 products, which is hard to beat for a tiny range.
Square Online
A free plan and low card fees, especially handy with a Square till. Available in France and the UK, not in Belgium.
SumUp online store
No monthly fee and 2.5% per online payment. Cheaper than us at most sales levels, if you build and run the store yourself.
EasyOrder
An ordering system for food businesses, with branded apps, for a fixed monthly fee per location and no commission.
Ordering platforms
Specialist services for bakeries and food shops, such as Bakeronline, Rapidle and Ollca, usually sold by subscription or on quote.
A web agency or freelancer
The right choice for a bespoke project, usually priced per project plus maintenance. We charge nothing upfront.
Etsy, Uber Eats & Deliveroo
Marketplaces bring new customers, for a larger share of each sale. Your Shop tab serves the customers who already know you.
Shop builders: you build it, they host it.

Uber Eats and Deliveroo also deliver for you, and marketplaces bring new customers: their fees pay for more than software. More detail in our marketplace comparison.
Monthly cost at four sales levels.
Total fees for one month with an average order of €50, using each provider's published prices, on monthly billing: the closest match to our no-commitment pricing. If you build and run the shop yourself, SumUp, Square Online and Ecwid can cost less; with the cap, we cost less than Shopify Basic at every level shown.

How we calculated: Add Your Shop = 2.5% commission (never more than €49) + Stripe's 1.5% + €0.25 per payment. Shopify Basic = plan + Shopify Payments (2.1% + €0.30 in France, 2% + €0.25 in Belgium). Ecwid Venture (up to 100 products) = €35 plan + the same Stripe fees as ours. Square Online Free = 1.4% + €0.25 per EU card; not available in Belgium. SumUp = 2.5% per online payment. Yearly billing lowers Shopify Basic to €27 (France) or €24 (Belgium) and Ecwid Venture to €29 a month. Our commission is shown before VAT; apps, themes, domain names and your own time are not included.
In short: Square Online costs less at every sales level and SumUp below about €9,800 a month; Ecwid Venture costs less from about €1,400 a month, and Ecwid Starter (€5, up to 10 products) from €200. What our commission pays for is the work: we build your shop on your own website and keep it up to date.
Which is the cheapest way to sell online?
On fees alone, a do-it-yourself tool. In our examples, Square Online's free plan (France and the UK) and SumUp's online store cost less than us at most sales levels, and Ecwid's Starter plan costs €5 a month for up to 10 products. They're excellent if you have the time to build and run the shop yourself. What you pay us for is the work: we build the shop on your own website, add your products and keep everything up to date.
Why do you compare monthly billing?
Because Add Your Shop has no subscription and no minimum term, so monthly billing is the closest like-for-like. Yearly billing is cheaper with most platforms, and we show those prices too: on the Shopify, Ecwid and Wix & Squarespace pages, yearly plans make some competitors cheaper than us at certain sales levels.
How did you check these prices?
On each provider's official pricing pages and help centres, in October 2026, for France, Belgium and the UK. Every table links to its sources. Prices change, so check the provider's site before you decide; if you spot something out of date, tell us at hello@addyour.shop and we'll correct it.
Can I use Add Your Shop alongside a marketplace or a till?
Yes. A marketplace can keep bringing new customers while your Shop tab takes orders from the people who already know you. Your till stays as it is: online orders arrive by email.
What does Add Your Shop not do?
We don't sync stock with a till, run a marketplace or deliver orders for you, and we're built for small ranges (up to 100 products at launch; for more, we'll confirm what's involved before we start). If you need those things, one of the platforms above will suit you better, and each comparison page says which.
