Cookie policy

addyour.shop uses one cookie, and only if you choose a language. Here is exactly what it does.

Version 1.0Effective 17 October 2026

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser so that it can recognise a setting or a choice when you come back. The rules on cookies also cover similar technologies, such as local storage in your browser.

NamePurposeWhen it is setDuration
ays_langRemembers the language you chose (English or French). When you open one of our English pages, we use it to show you the page in the language you chose, instead of choosing a language for you based on your location or browser settings.Only when you click a language link, such as those in the language menu (the link adds ?lang=en or ?lang=fr to the page address).12 months

It is a first-party, functional cookie set by addyour.shop for the whole website, with the Secure attribute (it is only sent over encrypted connections) and the SameSite=Lax attribute. It contains only a language code (en or fr). We do not use it for any other purpose, we do not share it with anyone and it is not used to track you.

Without this cookie, the language is chosen each time you open one of our English pages: if your browser lists French before English, you are sent to the French version. If Cloudflare locates your connection in France, Monaco or a French overseas territory, we only show a banner offering the French version; we never redirect you because of where you are. This uses your browser's language header and the country Cloudflare derives from your IP address at that moment; nothing is stored, on your device or by us. Our French pages never redirect you, and search engines are never redirected.

3. Why there is no cookie banner

The law requires consent before a website stores or reads information on your device, except where this is strictly necessary to provide a service that you have explicitly requested (article 5(3) of Directive 2002/58/EC). When you choose a language, you ask us to show the website in that language and to keep doing so as you browse; the ays_lang cookie is how we do it, and it is set only after you make that choice.

This exemption applies in our markets: in Belgium, under article 10/2 of the Law of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data; in France, under article 82 of the Loi Informatique et Libertés, which the CNIL applies to trackers that personalise the interface, such as a language choice; in the United Kingdom, under regulation 6 of, and paragraph 6 of Schedule A1 to, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (in force since 5 February 2026), which allow a website to remember a user's preferences provided that the user is clearly informed and can object free of charge, as this policy explains and as section 6 allows.

As we use no other cookies, there is nothing to ask your consent for, so you will not see a cookie banner on our website. We still explain our cookie here so that you know exactly what it does.

4. What we don't use

  • No analytics or audience measurement cookies.
  • No advertising, retargeting or social media cookies.
  • No third-party trackers, pixels or fingerprinting.
  • No local storage, session storage or other storage in your browser.
  • No embedded content from third parties, such as videos or maps, that could set their own cookies.
  • Our fonts and images are served from our own domain.

5. Cloudflare and security

Our website is delivered and protected by Cloudflare, which processes connection data such as your IP address and browser information to do so, as explained in our Privacy policy. In normal use, Cloudflare sets no cookies on our website. If its security systems ever need to check that a visitor is not an automated program, for example during an attack, Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie, such as cf_clearance, used only for that check.

6. Deleting or blocking cookies

You can delete the ays_lang cookie at any time in your browser settings, usually under privacy, cookies or site data, and you can block cookies for addyour.shop; this is also how you can object to it. The website works without it, but we cannot then remember your choice: each time you open one of our English pages, the language is chosen again as described in section 2. Choosing the other language simply replaces the value of the cookie.

7. Shops and other websites

This policy covers addyour.shop, including our demo stores. It does not cover the shops we run for merchants, which provide their own information, Stripe's payment pages, or the other websites we link to.

8. Changes

If we ever wanted to use a cookie that requires your consent, we would ask for your consent before setting it, and we would update this policy first. Questions: privacy@addyour.shop.
