Payments

Card payments for small business, paid into your own account.

Your customers pay online by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay — and Bancontact in Belgium. Stripe processes each payment and sends the money to your own Stripe account, then to your bank: card payments for a small business, set up for you.

Ways to pay

The cards and wallets your customers already use.

Visa and Mastercard

Debit and credit cards from banks across Europe and beyond.

Cartes Bancaires

France's own card network. Most CB cards are co-badged with Visa or Mastercard, and customers can choose which network to pay with.

Apple Pay and Google Pay

Payment with a card saved on a phone, tablet or computer — no card number to type.

Bancontact

Belgium's own payment method: customers pay with their Bancontact card or app, linked to their Belgian bank account.

Where the money goes

Your sales, in your own account.

Each payment goes into your own Stripe account, opened in your business's name, and Stripe pays it out to your bank. You stay the seller: you set your prices, you keep the relationship with your customers, and you can see every payment in Stripe.

Payouts

When the money reaches your bank.

Payout timing is set by Stripe, not by us. This is how it works for Stripe accounts in France, Belgium and the UK (checked October 2026).

01

A customer pays

The payment goes into your Stripe balance and the order arrives in your inbox.

02

Stripe's settlement time

A payment becomes available for payout 3 business days after it's made. That's Stripe's standard timing in France, Belgium and the UK.

03

Your first payout

For a new Stripe account, Stripe typically schedules the first payout 7–14 days after the first live payment, depending on the industry, the country and the risk level.

04

Then, on your schedule

In Stripe, you choose how often you're paid: every business day, on set days of the week or month, or manually.

Fees

What each payment costs. Every fee shown.

Our commission is the same for every card: 2.5% of the order, never more than €49 a month. Stripe's fee depends on the card and on where your business is based; it's paid to Stripe and never marked up by us.

Stripe's standard pricing, per successful payment. Cross-border and international cards cost a further 2% when currency conversion is needed. Stripe sets and charges its own fees, which can change; you'll see the fee for each payment in your Stripe account. Our prices exclude VAT, which may apply to our commission.

Who does what

Stripe, us and you. Each with a clear job.

Stripe

Processes every payment, protects card details and pays out to your bank. Stripe is certified PCI DSS Level 1, the most stringent level in the payments industry — that certification is Stripe's, not ours.

Add Your Shop

Builds your shop, connects it to your Stripe account, sends you each order by email and helps whenever you need it. We never see your customers' card details.

You

The seller. You set your prices, prepare the orders and keep the relationship with your customers.

Questions

About payments

Read our card payments guide
Do I need my own Stripe account?

Yes. It's in your business's name, so payments go straight to you. If you don't have one yet, we'll guide you through opening it.

How much does Stripe charge?

For a business in France or Belgium, 1.5% + €0.25 per payment with a standard European card; for a business in the UK, 1.5% + 20p with a standard UK card. Business cards and cards from abroad cost more — see the table. On its standard pricing, Stripe has no setup or monthly fee.

When will I receive my money?

Stripe pays out to your bank on the schedule you choose. A new account's first payout is typically scheduled 7–14 days after its first live payment; after that, payments become available for payout 3 business days after they're made in France, Belgium and the UK.

Can I refund a customer?

Yes, in full or in part, from your Stripe account — or ask us to help. We refund our commission on the refunded amount. If that month reached the €49 cap, we recalculate it and refund any difference. Stripe's rules apply to its own fee: it doesn't charge to refund a card payment, but it doesn't return the fee on the original payment either.

What if a customer disputes a payment?

Disputes, or chargebacks, are handled in your Stripe account under the card networks' rules. Stripe's standard pricing lists a €20.00 fee for each dispute received (£20.00 in the UK), and the same again if you contest it — that second fee is returned if you win. Tell us and we'll help you prepare your response.

Is it safe for my customers?

Card details are entered into Stripe's secure payment fields and handled by Stripe, which is certified PCI DSS Level 1. If a customer's bank asks for an extra check — a code, or an approval in the banking app — Stripe handles that too. More about security.

Can I use another payment provider?

No. Every shop takes payments through Stripe, which lets us set up cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Bancontact for you in one go — and support them properly.
