Add Your Shop vs Shopify: keep your website, start selling.

Shopify is one of the most complete e-commerce platforms there is. Add Your Shop does something narrower: we add a shop to the website you already have, build it for you, and charge nothing until you sell. Here's a fair comparison, using Shopify's own published prices.

Shopify prices checked on shopify.com for France, Belgium and the UK on 17 October 2026.

The maths

How we worked it out.

Three months, line by line, with the published prices above.

Illustrative example

A month with no sales

You pay us nothing. A Shopify plan is billed whether or not you sell.

Add Your Shop: €0
Shopify Basic: €36 (France) or €32 (Belgium), monthly billing
Illustrative example

€1,500: 30 orders of €50

On monthly billing we're €9 below Shopify Basic in France and €2 below in Belgium.

Add Your Shop: 2.5% × €1,500 = €37.50, + Stripe 1.5% × €1,500 + 30 × €0.25 = €30.00 → €67.50
Shopify France: €36 + 2.1% × €1,500 + 30 × €0.30 = €40.50 → €76.50
Shopify Belgium: €32 + 2% × €1,500 + 30 × €0.25 = €37.50 → €69.50
Illustrative example

€5,000: 100 orders of €50

2.5% would be €125, so the cap applies: our commission stops at €49 for the month.

Add Your Shop: €49 + Stripe 1.5% × €5,000 + 100 × €0.25 = €100.00 → €149.00
Shopify France: €36 + €135.00 → €171.00
Shopify Belgium: €32 + €125.00 → €157.00

Assumes standard European cards and an average order of €50. Your own mix of cards, order sizes and billing will change the totals.

Questions

Shopify or Add Your Shop?

All comparisons
Can I keep my website and still use Shopify?

Yes. Shopify's Buy Button sales channel, included in all its subscription plans, lets you place buy buttons on an existing website. You need a Shopify plan and you add the buttons yourself. With Add Your Shop, we build the shop and add the Shop tab for you.

Is Shopify's Starter plan still available?

Not for new stores, according to Shopify's help centre (checked October 2026). For a new store, the entry plan is Basic.

Which costs less?

It depends on your sales, your country and how you pay Shopify. In our examples with €50 orders in France and Belgium, we cost less than Shopify Basic on monthly billing at every level. On yearly billing, Shopify Basic is level with us or slightly cheaper at around €1,500 to €5,000 a month in Belgium, and level at around €1,500 in France. In the UK, with £50 orders, Shopify Basic costs less than us at around £1,500 a month on either billing. Above about €2,000 a month our commission stays at €49, so the difference grows in our favour as you sell more.

Do I have to use Shopify Payments?

No, but on the Basic plan Shopify adds a 2% fee per order if you use another payment provider. With Add Your Shop, payments go through your own Stripe account and our commission is the same whichever card your customer uses.

What does Shopify do that Add Your Shop doesn't?

Stock management across channels, point of sale, an app store and themes you can change yourself. If you need those, Shopify is the better choice. We focus on one thing: a shop on your own website, built and looked after for you.

Can I move from Shopify to Add Your Shop?

Yes. Send us your product list, or your current store's address, and we'll set up your Shop tab on your website. Your own site and domain stay as they are.
